ENGLISH:
I get asked a lot, why I keep my blog
in German. Well, there is a simple reason for that. I started this blog
when I spent a year in California, to keep family and friends back home
up to date. Especially my grandmothers and my grand-aunty really enjoyed
reading my travel reports! For that reason I always enjoyed writing it,
and talking to them about my journey after my return.
Sadly, my grandmother and my grand-aunty passed away a few weeks ago.
As sad as this makes me, I still have the feeling of them being alive -
they always impressed me with their Wanderlust, their great knowledge
about the world, their joy of living, vitality, and their emancipation, and thus, always were and will be an inspiring example for me. And I am happy to still have two grandmas alive, with whom I can and want to share my experiences. So this is the simple reason why I blog in German! :)
GERMAN:
Ich werde immer wieder gefragt, warum ich eigentlich auf Deutsch blogge. Nun, das hat einen einfachen Grund. Ich habe angefangen zu schreiben, als ich in Kalifornien war, um meine Familie und Freunde zuhause auf dem Laufenden zu halten. Vor allem meine Grossmuetter und meine Grosstante hatten unendlich viel Freude am Lesen der Reiseberichte! Daher habe ich immer gerne und viel geschrieben und mich nach meiner Rueckkehr immer mit ihnen ueber die Reise ausgetauscht.
Leider sind vor einigen Wochen sowohl meine Oma als auch meine Grosstante von uns gegangen... So traurig das ist, so leben sie doch weiter, da sie mich mit ihrer Reiselust, ihrem grossen Wissen ueber die Welt, ihrer Lebensfreude und ihrer Emanzipation immer beeindruckten und mir als Vorbild dienten - und weiterhin dienen werden. Und ich bin gluecklich darueber, dass ich immer noch zwei Omas habe, mit denen ich weiterhin meine Erlebnisse teilen kann und moechte. Und deshalb blogge ich weiterhin auf Deutsch! :)
